 IS THERE ANY CANDIDATE THAT SUPPORTS THE CAUSE OF THE DEFENCE OF ANIMALS?I have waited for a long time to see if any political candidate mentioned his intention of changing the fate of animals of all species interpreting the feeling of millions of Argentinians who respect them. Animals that were once adopted when they were young are abandoned when they grow up. They walk along the streets in the cities and the routes in the country and they end up being run over by cars or taken in by a municipality, especially if there is a political act for the campaign in the area. These animals that were cowardly abandoned have no chance to be rescued from cruelty in a humanitarian way by the state. Brutality is on the increase in the municipal anti-rabies centers, organizations called “zoonosis centers”. In these places, there is more and more indifference about the suffering of our non human siblings. Dogs, placed in Dantesque cages surrounded by a dark and humid atmosphere, get ill because they are sad and perceive naturally that they are a step away from death, and they are right. I expected candidates would have the intention of changing the fate of populations of stray and wandering animals, but today I have almost lost hope. I want to tell the different political parties that solving the problem of stray animals in public places is an unavoidable moral duty as well as a simple project. There are some indispensable factors: 1) a register of domestic animals including the identification number and the name of the person responsible for the animal, 2) a permanent campaign for early sterilization of cats and dogs, 3) the simultaneous execution of a program for responsible adoption, 4) the prohibition to breed crossbred animals and to sell them as well as the prohibition to sell any species outdoor fairs; the offences committed in these disreputable places are penalized by National Law 14,346 about Protection of Animals. I despise those who say: “with all the things that are needed to help children, they dare put forward proposals to protect animals”. They are ignorant!!! They lack empathy!!! They are merciless!!! People who can intentionally hurt animals can also hurt human beings, especially if there is no law to stop them. Animals are our siblings in the kingdom and we must speak out for them. The politician who is able to face his counterparts and to put forward projects for the defense of animals will also be a good representative when dealing with matters that require brain and heart.
